Ridin' the Storm Out

Or should I say "storms"? Holy cats and dogs. I was really looking forward to doing my first outdoor wedding at Quivey's Grove (kind of hard to believe I hadn't shot there yet)...until I saw the weather forecast for the first Saturday in June. What the forecast neglected to tell us was that three tornado producing systems were going to move through that day. Great day to be outside! As it turned out, all three tornados missed us (and I can't complain) and I had a great day with Todd and Kim Wroblewski. The sky was pretty interesting that day to say the least as it went from blue to gray to green to black to gray to blue to gray...you get the picture.

Oh, and that lovely little storm system dumped enough rain to kill the sump pump at the office, so I had a nice little indoor swimming pool to greet me the day after the wedding. I guess you could say I was a little busy this summer.

The Browns go totally Bucky.

Start with a Tuesday wedding and then begin the day with a Fifth Quarter featuring Bucky, the UW Marching Band, Camp Randall...and, oh yeah, one of the coolest couples ever -- Chad and Sarah Brown. These UW alums wanted the entire Madison experience for their wedding day, and boy did we capture it! We hit the highlights....Camp Randall, Observatory Drive, Library Mall, State Street, the Capitol, Monona Terrace, and much more. Here are a few of my faves, plus many more can be seen here.

Bagpiping in Beautiful Weather for Natalie and Andrew

Talk about ideal weather for a wedding. Temps in the low 70s, light wind, low humidity. I'm forecasting a great life ahead for Andrew and Natalie Hoyos. :) Here are a few of my favorites from the day. You can also view their highlight show here.

Messin' with Texture

I was just messing around with a new grunge texture screen (a new "artistic" fad in photography) and came up with this treatment for a recent wedding image.

Likey? No likey?

Food, Glorious Food

I spent today photographing the 2008 update for the Ehlenbach Cheese Chalet Catalog. In addition to sampling a ton of delicious food I did manage to capture quite a few appetizing shots. Including this one for a section dedicated to their new line of gourmet salsas.

If you've never been to Ehlenbach's, you owe it to yourself to stop in. They're just off the interstate on Highway V. Just look for the giant cow.

MVP -- Most Valuable Portrait?

The portrait elves at our secret research lab have come up with a new hit product: The MVP Collage. (Okay, so maybe we don't have elves, but it does make for a better visual story.)

The MVP Collage is perfect for any sports-minded senior. For 2008 there is no extra session charge to create the images for an MVP. But the MVP is only available with a 90 or 180 minute session and should be scheduled ahead of time as part of your total session.

The MVP is also a far cooler way to show off your sports career...enough of the clothes-pinning your jersey to a black wire rack already. :)

Hannah Walsh - Waunakee Senior

Believe it or not, senior portrait season has begun. Cool! It may be my craziest time of year, but it's also my favorite time of year. (Plus it means that the weather has gotten better.)

Here are a few of my favorite shots from Hannah Walsh's rep session. This first shot is adorable and shows one of the new backgrounds for this year -- I have five new ones to mix in with my already huge selection. By the way, if you want 8 free wallets with your session, just ask Hannah for one of her promo wallets. It really is that easy.

The second and third shots show that you don't always have to have a big smile in order to get a gorgeous look. Check these out!

Magic Anti-Rain Dance Works Again

Well, I did my magical "anti-rain" dance again for last Saturday's wedding...and as usual, it worked. :) In fact, we actually had pretty nice weather once we ventured outside to do some on location shots at the Capitol and Monona Terrace. Check out the blue skies!
